About Me

Welcome to The Truth in Sea Glass! My name is Allie and I am so glad you've stopped by! This is a blog about a lot of things- life as a grad student, Jesus, writing, and good literature, but it is mostly a testament to God's faithfulness in my life.

I love sea glass- not just because it is beautiful, but because it is a sweet reminder of how through Jesus, God turns my brokenness into beauty. Since the age of four I have been a devoted follower of Jesus.

I work part time and am a full time student at Vermont College of Fine Arts, working on my Masters of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults. When I graduate July, 2021, I will be able to teach writing at the college level. But really I hope to be a published author, writing good Christian fiction that changes, challenges, and entertains readers as well as shares the truth about the messy world we live in and the gospel that changes lives.

I am an avid reader and cannot possibly choose a favorite book. But if pressured, I would tell you The Chosen by Chaim Potok, The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak, Passion and Purity by Elisabeth Elliot, and Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi.

But I also love more than written words. I love hiking around my New England home. I love watching the Philadelphia Eagles play football (well, it's also stressful). I love ice skating, ballroom dancing, and I love traveling around the world.

Simple things that make me happy are wild flowers, hugs, raspberries, long walks along the beach, old books, photos of cherry blossoms in Japan, hot cider, snuggling babies, ultra fine point sharpie markers, staring at the sky, fresh Colombian mangoes, and Celtic pipes.

I am 26 and single, and I write about my unwanted singleness a lot- mostly at my other blog An Abundant Singleness, but here as well. Though I never want to dwell on my singleness in an unhealthy way, I find it helpful to write about it as a way to process my emotions, center my emotions back to the gospel, and hopefully encourage other single believers as well.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to be able to connect with you on my blog!
